KIDS MARTIAL ARTS IN TWICKENHAM: A PARENT'S GUIDE

Thinking about martial arts for your child in Twickenham? Here's what children gain from training, when to start, what to look for in a local club, and how our Kids Choi Kwang Do classes work.

Why martial arts is great for children

Martial arts gives children a structured, active hobby that builds far more than fitness. Parents often tell us they notice changes at home and at school too:

  • Confidence: learning new skills and earning belts shows children what they can achieve
  • Focus and listening: following instructions in class carries over into the classroom
  • Fitness and coordination: kicking, striking and stretching build strength, balance and flexibility
  • Respect and self-discipline: courtesy to instructors and classmates is part of every session
  • Self-defence awareness: practical skills and the confidence to walk away from trouble

What's the right age to start?

Most children are ready for structured martial arts classes from around six, when they can follow instructions and concentrate for a full session. That's why our Kids Choi Kwang Do classes are for ages 6–11. Older children move up to our teen classes from 12.

What to look for in a Twickenham club

  • Certified instructors and recognised gradings (our members are registered with Choi Kwang Do International)
  • Classes grouped by age, so children train with others at a similar stage
  • A supportive, non-competitive atmosphere where every child progresses at their own pace
  • Convenient times that fit around school and homework
  • A free trial, so your child can try it before you commit

Why Choi Kwang Do suits kids
